REGISTRATION GUIDELINES

Performance order is determined by the postmark or online reciept date of all registrations in a particular division. The first registration received will be the last to perform in that division. Conversely, the last registration received will be the first to perform. Champion Productions reserves the right to make any necessary adjustments to this guidline as deemed necessary due to division/skill conflicts, as well as location time constraints of any particular competition schedule.

AGE DIVISIONS
Age divisions are determined by the dancer's age at the time of the competition. Group age divisions are determined by the group age average at the time of the competition.

Minis 3-7 Years
Juniors 8-12 Years
Teens 13-15 Years
Elite Teen 16-17 Years
Professionals 18+ Years

SKILL DIVISIONS
All performances including solo, duet, trio, quartet and groups are to be registered in the appropriate division by reviewing the judging guidelines and consulting with the studio director/teacher.

  • Note: All Pointe competitors must register in either the Intermediate or Advanced skill level. (Pointe registrations will not be accepted in the Amateur or Amateur-Intermediate Skill Divisions)

  • SHOWCASE: Dancers OR groups who prefer to perform their routines for judging critiques only - and not compete against other soloists or teams should register their genre' AND check the box for SHOWCASE. Showcase entries receive participation trophies only.
  • OPEN: Dancers OR groups registering in a category which results in no other registered competitior may be moved to an OPEN category or will compete as a showcase entry only; according to the information provided on their registration form.
  • PRODUCTION ROUTINES: Must include scenery or backdrop, multiple entrances/exits by dancers and must contain the components of musical theatre production.
  • PRODUCTION SIZE:
    Small (12-24) Large (51-100)
    Medium (25-50) Grande' (100+)

ROUTINE TIME LIMITS

Solos, Duets, Trios and Quartets Minimum length=1 minute
Maximum length=3 minutes
Groups Minimum length=1 minute
Maximum length=3 mins 30 sec
Productions Minimum length=4 minutes
Maximum length=15 minutes


  • Routines exceeding maximum allowed length will receive a substantial score deduction. All entrances and exits from the dance floor must not exceed 10 seconds. Note: Entrances/exits are not judged.
  • Routines must be appropriate for family viewing. Routines deemed inappropriate will receive a 10 point deduction, or will be halted during performance and disqualified as per the technical judge's decision.
  • Props and backdrops are allowed, but must be moved on and off stage by performers. If the floor is littered during a routine from costumes, props or backdrops, dancers must be prepared to clear the floor immediately after the routine is finished.
  • Champion Dance judges are qualified to critique dance performances - not gymnastics. Gymnastic skills may be used in routines, but will not add point to the routine score. However, routines with an imbalance of too many gymnastic skills may result in a deduction of points according to the opinion of the technical judge.
  • All routines performed at a Champion Regional competition qualify to compete in the Champion Nationals competition.
  • All soloist achieving a queen award at the Champion Regional competition qualify to compete in the Queen's Division of the Champion Nationals competition.
  • Group routines achieving a 1st place or overall award at a Champion Regional competition will receive an invitation to participate in the Champion National Invitational.

COMPETITION SCHEDULES/LINE UPS
Studio directors and independent soloist will receive e-mail confirmation of their entry number, performance time and location after the competition deadline and prior to the competition. Line-ups are not available prior to the competition, and can be accessed by purchasing a Competition Program. (Programs are provided to all studio directors at registration).

Schedule change requests will only be accepted in writing, (send e-mail to championusa@gmail.com) and only processed until the competition deadline. Change requests which are successfully administered will result in a reply email confirming the change. No verbal requests will be honored, nor requests made after the competition deadline. Every effort will be made to meet your change requests, but no implied guarantees are made with any change requests.

  • Competition locations for each genre' or routine (stage or gymnasium) will be determined by the rules of the location, and the time limitations of the competition.
  • Registration refunds will not be provided for preference of locations being unmet.
